Banker – £50 on 1/6 at Ladbrokes

Manchester City V Bolton Wanderers (Saturday 15.00) – City to win

When I was a small child, my mother took me to a rural show in the Lake District. It was my first experience of seeing live Rams during their ‘season’. Amazed by the shear size and arrogance of one creature’s testes, I got too close and was promptly butted by the beast’s horns. Ever-since, I have only admired such a wonder from a distance.

The moral of the story is ‘be subtle when pointing at a male sheep’s ridiculously large cargo’ and ‘heed your warnings’.

The latter is relevant. After my banker bet on Birmingham City failed last week and with it went £50, alarm bells rang and I adopted a much more conservative approach by backing genuine banker, Spain, at much smaller odds in midweek. This process is set to continue, starting with Man City to beat Bolton tomorrow.

Roberto Mancini’s City have sneakily become the best side in England. At home, they are imperious and, with Vincent Kompany and Yaya Toure in the side, almost infallible.  The Citizens have won their last 18 Premier League home games.

Meanwhile, Bolton Wanderers, decimated by the recent imbalance of departures to arrivals, have lost 20 out of their last 25 away league games.
